  1. 01Layout rough

    Loose blue-pencil construction: staging, perspective and silhouettes before any detail.

  2. 02Clean line

    The rough is refined into confident, on-model line, the stage I learned on paper at UTV.

  3. 03Colour flats

    Flat colour blocking separates characters from background and sets the read of the shot.

  4. 04Final frame

    Lighting, render and composite: the shot as it went to air.

About

A classical animator who moved into 3D and kept the pencil instincts.

Vilas Jangam is a fine-arts graduate from Aurangabad who began animating at UTV in Mumbai in 2001. Since then he has worked at Green Gold, Escotoonz, BIG Animation and DQ Entertainment, some of India's best-known animation studios.

He has worked on both sides of the desk. As Animation Director and creative supervisor he led teams and delivered whole episodes. As a senior artist he has animated characters for Disney and Method Animation series. Both roles rest on the same classical fundamentals: strong poses, clear staging and timing that sells the gag.

He is open to senior animator, lead and supervisor roles, remote and freelance work, and teaching.
